‘National Special Districts Action Week’ Slated for August 8-12

June 20, 2022 | Cole Karr

The National Special Districts Coalition (NSDC) will coordinate its first annual “National Special Districts Action Week” during the second week of August. The weeklong event will facilitate special districts’ direct engagement with federal legislators during the congressional recess.

NSDC will equip special districts with advocacy resources and aid with coordination of meetings with congressional offices during the week of August 8-12. The Coalition’s objective is to provide members with an opportunity to directly engage with their federal representatives to raise awareness of the essential services special districts provide to their constituents, advocate on special districts’ priority federal issues, and discuss matters of local concern.

“The National Special Districts Coalition is excited to launch its first-ever national action week to promote awareness and education on the significant, critical public services special districts provide across the nation,” said Cole Karr, NSDC Federal Advocacy Coordinator. “The National Special Districts Action Week will be a nationally coordinated effort to mobilize special districts in mass to connect with their members of the House and Senate to tell their story and share perspectives on federal policy matters of interest to districts.”

Special districts interested in participating in National Special Districts Action Week are strongly encouraged to register with NSDC to receive advocacy materials, resources, and a legislative briefing on key federal issues. The registration is linked here via Google Forms.

NSDC is the only national organization representing and advocating for all special districts at the federal level. The Coalition advocates for special districts’ equitable access to critical programs available to local governments. Uniting special districts and stakeholders as one voice, NSDC fosters strong national collaboration to strengthen and advance essential community service enhancing American communities’ quality of life.
